The city of Aguascalientes reflects a colonial history full of abundances with a unique personality whose main attraction has been its fiesta brava.

The historic center of Aguascalientes shows us in each building and in each plaza the great wealth and abundance that the city reached in the colonial era. Without a doubt, the city of Aguascalientes is a colonial treasure that has prevailed until today.

In the historic center is the Cathedral Basilica of Our Lady of the Assumption with pink quarry main facade with two columns with reliefs. It has in its interior, the altar dedicated to the Virgin of the Assumption elaborated in sheet of gold in a neoclassical style.

Japan owns 70% of its investments in this city including two of Nissan’s manufacturing plants. Each neighborhood of the city of Aguascalientes consists of its own church and plaza. The four founding districts of the historic center are: El Barrio Encino, initially called Barrio de Triana. This neighborhood is the oldest and has the temple of the Black Christ of Encino, which is venerated year after year. The Barrio del San Marcos dates from the beginning of the 17th century and it is here where the National Fair of San Marcos is celebrated, its temple and its garden square have the same name Temple and Garden of San Marcos, the Calaveras Festival is also celebrated in this neighborhood. The Barrio de Guadalupe had its beginnings in the second half of the 18th century, its temple of Guadalupe with a baroque style is considered a historical treasure and its garden surrounded by ash and alamos. The Barrio de la Estación is considered the most recent and modern on Alameda Avenue, here we find the Los Arquitos Cultural Center where workshops and conferences are held continuously.

Among its various Museums of Aguascalientes is the well-known Museum of Death.

Among its most well-known museums in the city of Aguascalientes is the Museum of Death that expresses with works by Octavio Bajonero Gil how we as Mexicans relate to death. Other museums of interest include the Tres Centurias Ferrocarrilero Museum, the Museum of Contemporary Art, the Aguascalientes Museum and the José Guadalupe Posada Museum.

The Fiesta Brava in the city of Aguascalientes is one of its biggest attractions.

 

For generations, the Fiesta Brava has influenced various cultural aspects of the city of Aguascalientes such as literature, sculpture, painting, among others. Currently, there are two bull rings: Plaza San Marcos and Plaza de Toros Monumental.
