Each year El Cervantino brings together art and culture with international renown
In Guanajuato, the Festival Internacional Cervantino is celebrated each year, a multicultural event that reaches international renown and brings together renowned artists from around the world. During nineteen days in October, Guanajuato becomes the center of continental culture, with the participation of thousands of artists from different countries.
The events are presented both indoors and outdoors in various places of the city such as Teatro Juarez, Teatro Cervantes, Casa Puebla, Explanada de la Alhóndiga, University of Guanajuato, House of Culture, Auditorium of Mines, etc.
El Cervantino celebrates the works of Miguel de Cervantes.
Popularly it is known as “The Cervantino” that arose to celebrate the contribution of Miguel de Cervantes to the culture and art of Mexico. It was on September 29, 1972 that this celebration became official and has since become a festival to commemorate artists, cultural and artistic events.
Thanks to El Cervantino, the city of Guanajuato has increased its recognition and has become a national and international tourist destination.
