This crossing is located on the Gateway International Bridge between the city of Brownsville, Texas in the United States and Matamoros, Tamaulipas in Mexico. On the American side, it connects with State Highway 4 (SH4) and Avenida Álvaro Obregón on the Mexican side. Port Gateway is the gateway to the United States at this crossing.
The Gateway International Bridge is one of three international bridges that cross the border between the cities of Brownsville, Texas and Matamoros Tamaulipas. Trucks are not allowed at this intersection. This bridge is also known as “Puente Nuevo”, “Puente Internacional Puerta de México” y Puente Internacional Brownsville Gateway”.
