The City of Tlaxcala played a very important role in the history of Mexico since the conquest.<\/span><\/p>\n [\/et_pb_text][et_pb_divider color=”#898989″ _builder_version=”4.16″ global_colors_info=”{}”][\/et_pb_divider][et_pb_text _builder_version=”4.16″ global_colors_info=”{}”]<\/p>\n The City of Tlaxcala<\/strong> always surprises many of its visitors when they arrive they find a large, clean historic center with well-marked streets and avenues that together with the colonial architecture of houses and buildings give the city that colonial<\/strong> touch.<\/span><\/p>\n After the conquest thanks to the union of the Tlaxcalans<\/strong> with the Spaniards<\/strong> to defeat the Aztec<\/strong> empire, the Spanish promised them not to destroy their cities, which they accomplished by allowing the Tlaxcalans to conserve their cities<\/strong>, their indigenous names<\/strong> and their traditional form of government<\/strong> during 300 years<\/strong> of Spanish rule.<\/span><\/p>\n The City of Tlaxcala<\/strong> was one of the first places where colonial architectures were built. The oldest church in Mexico built in 1521<\/strong> and the first monasteries built by the Franciscans<\/strong> in 1524<\/strong>.
