Oaxaca<\/strong> is synonymous with traditions and culture. The ethnic diversity of the state is recognized worldwide and its summit is the Guelaguetza<\/strong> where communities throughout the entity make a show of their traditions through typical dances in the classic Lunes del Cerro<\/strong> that take place in an amphitheater two Mondays during the month of July.<\/p>\n Its archaeological sites are notable as Mitla<\/strong> and Monte Alb\u00e1n<\/strong>, in addition to the tree of the Tule<\/strong> that has the widest trunk in the world and two millenia of age. In addition, there are handicrafts, from black mud and alebrijes to the mezcal tradition and its wide and delicious gastronomy.<\/p>\n Oaxaca also has spectacular beaches, and Huatulco<\/strong> is a top tourist destination that has grown in popularity abroad, in addition to Puerto Escondido<\/strong> which is considered a mecca of surfing.<\/p>\n The state was and still has a role of great relevance in the daily life of Mexico. Here were born the two presidents who defined Mexico as a nation, Benito Ju\u00e1rez and Porfirio D\u00edaz.
