Requirements for the Temporaly Import Vehicle Permit via Internet:
10 days prior your trip its recommended before process the permit via Internet.
A credit card payment of $49.50 it’s required. The credit card could be Visa or MasterCard, and the cardholder name should be the same as the person which name will be at the permit.
Proof or American residency with any of the following documents:
Mexican citizen (legal residet: a. Resident: Resident alien card b. Birth Certificate c. Proof of work authorization in the foreign country. Authorization must be valid for more
than one year. d.Dual Citizenship: Certificate of naturalization or passport from the foreign country and a Mexican passport.
Foreign citizen: a.Foreign passport b.Birth Certificate c.Certificate of naturalization d. Voter registration card Nota. When entering Mexican territory, you must first apply for a tourist visa at the
National Institute of Migration (form FMT, FM3 or FM2)
Proof of vehicle ownership, with any of the following documents a.Vehicle title b.Valid vehicle registration certificate c.Invoice Nota. If you are not the owner of the vehicle you should present a document that proves ownership and a document that proves the importer’s relationship with the vehicle owner such as spouse or children. Valid documents include marriage or birth certificates.
It is very important that you sign the promess of the vehicle return. Send this document together with copies of the required documents that were used to process the permit. Once the process has been done with the corresponding payment the permit will arrive in a period of 10 days to the registered address. We recommend you to make sure that somebody will be at your home during these days to receive the permit and sticker.
In Mexican consulates at the cities of Albuquerque, Austin, Chicago, Dallas, Forth Worth, Houston, Denver, St. Paul, Los Angeles, Phoenix, Sacramento, San Bernardino and San Francisco; this proceeding could be made with six months of anticipation.
The permit has a cost of $ 27 US plus tax at the border.
You may also have to pay from $200 to $400 US cash, depending on vehicle’s year and model as a guarantee, this money will be refunded to you when the vehicle is presented before the expiration day in any of Banjercito’s module at the border (Mex-USA). This deposit will not be necessary if you pay with a foreign credit card or debit as long as the cardholder’s name is the one who is importing the vehicle.
Important: The cost of issue at the consulate is for $ 36 US plus tax, only payable with foreign credit cards or debit so long as the cardholder’s names is the one who is importing the vehicle. The proceeding by Internet has a cost of $45 US plus tax, which includes shipping costs.
Mexicans: the person who imports, spouse, ancestors, descendant or brothers/sisters, as long as they are permanent foreign resident; a foreign with the appropriate migratory quality or any other person, as long as the person who imports travels on board of the vehicle. Foreigners: the person who imports, spouse, ancestors, descendants or brothers/sisters, as long as they are not foreigners; foreigners that have an authorization with a migratory quality or also by a national, as long as they travel on board with any of the authorize person to drive the car.
Foreigners: a valid ID and a copy, as well as the documentation issue by the Instituto Nacionl de Migración who credits your migratory quality; this will be deliver at the offices of Migration located at the border.
Mexicans: document that valid your legal residency abroad or oficial documents that proves your migratory quality that shows that you are working for a year or longer (legal mexican resident: a permanent or temporal residence card, work permit or citizenship papers with the letter of double citizenship; tourist: pasport, birth certificate, citizenship paper or the registration to vote) and the number of the Social Security.

Title of vehicle property, registration, invoices or contract of the landholder to name of the importer.. Payment of the service to Banejercito Proof or the return of the previously imported vehicle, if any.
Cases, trunks and suitcases needed to transport your luggage. New or used personal products, like clothes, shoes, and hygiene products, as long as they are on quantity enough for the trip time and not show a quantity for commercialization. Medication for personal use. For any psychotic medicament you should show a doctor’s prescription. A photographic camera, a recording camera and if necessary a power source, up to 12 rolls of film unrecorded or cassettes; photographic material printed or filmed; a cellular phone, a radio, a binocular, a writing machine, a portable computer: laptop, notebook, omni book or anything similar, new or used; a portable copy machine or printer, new or used; a portable radio to record or reproduce sound, or a mix one. If you arrive to Mexico by air or boat you could bring, in one or many products combine with your luggage, up to 300 dollars or the equivalent in foreign coin. Between november 21, 2005 and january 10, 2006, the mexican passengers coming from outside that arrive to the country by road or show migratory documents that proves a foreing residency, will be able to import, for tax exemption, merchandise upt to 300 dollars or the equivalent in a foreing coin.
